Statement of the Resident Commissioner Regarding Today’s House Vote to Repeal the Affordable Care Act

Washington, DC- “As expected, the Republican leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives will bring to the floor today yet another bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which was enacted through the efforts of President Obama and congressional Democrats. It is unfortunate that, instead of focusing on taking legislative action to strengthen the economy and create jobs, the Republican majority is again wasting time on this. From my point of view, this will be a central issue in the upcoming elections. It will be up to voters to decide whether or not to preserve the improvements that have been made to the U.S. health care system by virtue of the Affordable Care Act. For this and many other reasons, I will be actively campaigning in support of the reelection of President Obama and my Democratic colleagues in the Congress.”
